I want my sessions to be relaxed and supportive, whilst still challenging students to reach their full potential. I will adapt each session to suit the individual student, rather than following a fixed lesson plan. This means that if a student is struggling with a particular area, we can spend more time working through it until they feel confident.

I will use a range of teaching methods depending on what works best for the student. This could include explaining concepts step-by-step, working through examples together, or completing practice questions. I will encourage students to ask questions throughout the session and will regularly check their understanding.

I also believe that making mistakes is an important part of learning. I want students to feel comfortable making mistakes without feeling embarrassed, as this allows us to identify areas for improvement and work on them together. My aim is for every student to leave a session feeling more confident in their ability and with a clearer understanding of the topic.

For the past four years, I have worked in a primary school, giving me valuable experience of working with children across different ages and abilities. In this setting, I have worked one-to-one with pupils to support their development in numeracy and phonics. This has taught me the importance of adapting explanations and activities to suit the individual, as children do not all learn in the same way. It has also allowed me to develop my communication, patience and ability to build positive relationships with pupils.

I have achieved a B at A Level in Maths, alongside an A at GCSE level, giving me a strong understanding of the subject and the confidence to support students with their mathematical development.
