My Approach: Turning Math from a Fear into a Puzzle

My Approach: Turning Math from a Fear into a Puzzle
I know that for many students, math feels like a wall they can’t climb. My goal is to change that. I want my students to stop being afraid of "wrong" answers and start seeing math as a puzzle to be solved and being excited to dig in.
Building Confidence and Instinct: I don't just teach formulas; I build a student's instinct. I want them to be able to "smell" when an answer doesn't look right. By teaching them how to double-check their own workings, I give them the tools to catch their own mistakes. This builds a massive amount of confidence because they realize they have control over the numbers.
The "Scaffold" Method: My lessons follow a simple, supportive "Scaffold" approach. I don't move forward until the foundation is solid. Here is how we do it:
Identify the Pain: We start by finding exactly where the confusion is. We don't hide from the "hard" parts; we tackle them head-on.
I Solve (The Example): I demonstrate the logic clearly so the student can see the path.
We Solve (Together): We work through the problem as a team. This is where we "hunt" for the solution together.
You Solve (The Win): The student takes the lead. When they solve it alone, that "Aha!" moment makes math actually enjoyable.
Why My Background Matters: With over 10 years in construction and project management (PRINCE2 Practitioner), I’ve spent my career using math to solve real-world problems. I bring that practical, calm, and organized energy to every lesson. I treat my students with respect and patience, showing them that failing at a problem is just a step toward solving the puzzle.
What to Expect: My lessons are structured but relaxed. We focus on building a strong "math gut feeling" so that when exam time comes, the student isn't panicking—they’re just ready to solve the next puzzle.
