I have been teaching in English and have taught the Use of English for over seven years. I keep in mind a few things when teaching such as the category of learners and the patterns of instruction, this is important because I need to teach to suit the learner's learning requirement. My teaching dynamic requires that I keep many related activities ready by planning clearly how topics will be introduced and taught. I keep instructions clear, simple and straightforward as well as motivate students to listen to the pronunciations, pay attention to the grammar, and develop vocabularies. Specific approaches employed include: Task-Based Approach – Here, students are tasked to understand the use of English in natural contexts. Each student must have to be engaged and encouraged to participate in a task such as playing tennis ball, eating in a restaurant, or book transportation ticket etc. Project-Based Approach – l devise a project which the learners work on, this might be a role-play or a presentation. This approach gives practical knowledge and hands-on skills in learning English language. Lexical Syllabus – In this approach, the goal is to develop the student’s vocabulary, which is specific to their needs. For example, web address, web browser, smartphones are terms related to technology therefore, their word list must consist of these words.
