What My Yoruba Lessons Are Like

Hi there! I’m a trained teacher with a B.Ed and years of experience teaching Yoruba online to learners of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you’re starting from scratch or trying to polish what you already know, my lessons are designed to be engaging, relaxed, and easy to follow.

Each lesson is held virtually via Zoom or Google Meet, and typically runs for 30–60 minutes, depending on your preference. You’ll get:

Live, one-on-one teaching or small group sessions Visual aids like flashcards, slides, and short videos Real-life conversations so you can use what you learn immediately Interactive games, songs, and storytelling to keep things fun Regular quizzes and feedback to help you stay on track Cultural insights so you understand how and why the language is used the way it is

* What You’ll Learn in My Yoruba Lessons:

How to greet properly – from “? káàr?`” to knowing who to say it to and when

Numbers and counting – the natural Yoruba way, not just rote memorization

Basic conversation skills – ask questions, answer confidently, hold your own

How to introduce yourself and others – names, family, and where you're from

Common Yoruba phrases – everyday expressions that make you sound native

Food and market vocabulary – perfect for when you're visiting or chatting with family

How to talk about time, days, and months – no more saying “yesterday” when you mean “last week”

Respectful vs casual Yoruba – know how to talk to elders, friends, and even in-laws

Popular Yoruba songs, idioms, and proverbs – and what they really mean

How to read and pronounce tones – so your words don’t accidentally insult someone ??

Storytelling in Yoruba – build fluency while enjoying traditional folktales

Cultural dos and don’ts – because language is more than just words.
