I believe the scientific skills of being able to observe, come up with a hypothesis and test it are foundational to the idea of "learning". Curiosity is an innate part of growing up and I believe that all children begin with a scientific mind (asking endless questions to their parents). I aim to reconnect students with that innate curiosity to build a love for science and maths which then translates into longer term understanding and better exam results.
With several years of tutoring and classroom teaching experience, I am able to adapt lessons and content to suit individual students' needs. Students are encouraged to think critically and be confident with their thought process.
My lessons consist of exploring questions together, using real world examples to explain concepts and focussing on exam technique. make use of past papers, students' prior knowledge and the curriculum they are studying to identify misconceptions and gaps in learning to personalise the learning process to each student. Such as planning time for strengthening foundational key knowledge, while also having time to develop higher level thinking and application-style exam questions. I aim to create a calm, encouraging environment to build student confidence in asking and answering questions.
