My lessons begin by identifying the key areas where a student feels least confident. I believe there’s no benefit in rushing ahead until the fundamentals are secure, so I take time to understand how each student thinks and where gaps in understanding come from.

Lessons are structured but relaxed. We usually start with a quick recap or a short diagnostic question, then build up concepts step by step using clear explanations and worked examples. I encourage students to ask questions at any point, and I’m always happy to explain ideas in different ways until they click. Maths shouldn’t feel intimidating, and I aim to create a calm, supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.

A strong focus of my tutoring is exam technique. Alongside understanding the theory, we practise exam-style questions, learn how to structure full-mark solutions, and identify common mistakes that examiners penalise. For stronger students, I also introduce extension questions to stretch problem-solving skills and improve confidence with unfamiliar problems, particularly at A-Level.

Outside of lessons, I provide guidance on effective revision methods, topic-specific practice questions, and useful resources tailored to the student’s level and exam board. Progress is reviewed regularly so lessons adapt as confidence and ability improve.

As a current A-Level student studying Maths, Further Maths and Economics, I have a strong understanding of the syllabus and the pressures students face. My goal is not only to improve grades, but to help students develop logical thinking, independence, and long-term confidence in mathematics.
