How do you blur the background of a photo?

Mark 1 answer
Hi, I've seen on forums that you have to open the aperture, but I don't know how much you need to blur the background. Thanks

Opening the aperture is one part of the equation. The other is to have the subject in the foreground with enough distance from the background where you are looking to blur. The smaller the aperture number the more pronounced the blur will be.
