What are the silent letters in English?

I'd like to learn English with good pronunciation and it seems to me that one of the basic rules is that you shouldn't pronounce all the letters. What exactly are these silent letters? Is there a rule?

These silent letters are the ones with K. e.g Know the rule is to miss out the first letter and say the second one. Hope this helps
