A-Level and IB Spanish Specialist Tutor

I am a specialist Spanish tutor with 12 years of experience teaching advanced Spanish students, particularly those preparing for A-Level and IB examinations. My work is focused on helping students move beyond basic accuracy and develop the fluency, sophistication and exam technique needed for top grades.

For A-Level students, I provide targeted support with speaking, translation, essay writing, grammar, listening, reading, film, literature and cultural topics. I have extensive experience with Edexcel and AQA, and I help students understand exactly how to approach each part of the exam, from stimulus cards and speaking preparation to essay structure and high-level written expression.

For IB students, I help with oral preparation, complex discussion, written tasks, text analysis, grammar accuracy and cultural awareness. Lessons are adapted to the student’s level, whether they need support consolidating grammar or want to develop a more advanced and natural style in Spanish.

My lessons are structured, rigorous and highly practical. I place strong emphasis on accuracy, complex grammatical structures, topic-specific vocabulary and the ability to express sophisticated ideas clearly in Spanish. I also work carefully on common weaknesses, such as verb control, subjunctive use, idiomatic expression, pronouns, gender and number agreement, and the difference between a good answer and an excellent one.

I have a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, experience teaching Spanish at university level, and a strong academic background, including doctoral-level research in philosophy. This allows me to support students not only with language accuracy, but also with argument, analysis and essay planning.
