I am an experienced teacher who has 5 years of experience working with children who are educated other than at school

I am an experienced primary tutor with a strong background in supporting children to feel confident, capable, and motivated in their learning. I have worked extensively with primary-aged pupils, including those who may need additional support to reach their full potential. I also work with teenagers up to ages 19 towards functional English and Maths qualifications, specialising in young people who are facing school refusal, exclusion or significant learning gaps.

My approach to tutoring is centred around creating sessions that are engaging, enjoyable, and tailored to your child’s or young persons individual needs. I take a relationship-driven approach, placing strong emphasis on building trust and creating a safe, supportive environment where children feel comfortable to learn and express themselves. I encourage a mindset where mistakes are seen as valuable opportunities for growth, helping pupils to develop resilience and confidence alongside their academic skills. I use a variety of creative and adaptive strategies to ensure sessions are both purposeful and enjoyable, helping to build not only academic skills but also confidence and independence.

I have a proven track record of supporting pupils to make accelerated progress, particularly in areas where they may previously have struggled to meet national curriculum expectations. By identifying gaps in understanding and adapting my teaching style accordingly, I aim to help every child experience success and develop a positive attitude towards learning.
