I have taught the piano for over 30 years including teaching at the Showa Music University in Japan. I am a judge at many piano competitions in Japan including the International Chopin Piano Competition in Asia and prepare a lot of piano students for international competitions. I am also conductor of an orchestra and chorus and regularly give master classes on piano, sight reading and opera. I established the first sight reading competition in Japan.
I believe in the individual and teach each student in a different way to let them reach their full potential. I am calm but encouraging and I like to put humour into the lesson to relax the student. In Japan all of my piano students at the music college received very high marks for their performances and some of them were first or second in final exams. Many of these students are now successful teachers and/or performers and all of them have decided to take a career in music. I am very proud of this and believe that it is because my way of teaching is motivating and enjoyable.
I am very experienced in all aspects of teaching, accompanying and conducting. I also have experience teaching singing, theory and aural training. I can teach students online and have over 10 years experience of remote teaching using Skype and Zoom.
