Senior Lead Mathematics Practitioner, Advanced Skills Teacher and Edexcel examiner for GCSE and A Level

I am an experienced Head of Mathematics and GCSE and A Level examiner with nearly 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I have supported thousands of students across a wide range of abilities and backgrounds, consistently helping them achieve strong academic outcomes.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and have completed numerous professional development and subject enhancement courses. My teaching approach is adaptable and student-focused, incorporating a variety of proven strategies to support different learning styles and maximise progress.

I specialise in boosting students' confidence in maths which I believe is extremely important to aid progress. I have built an effective bank of resources so it is easy to apply different approaches quickly. I have adapted my teaching skills to online teaching effectively using good quality software and technology. This has resulted in a successful learning experience for each student and is no different to face to face tuition.

What is your teaching style?
I am able to adapt to any type of learning styles depending on the individual and my strengths lie in simplifying explanations to suit any ability. I will conduct my own assessment from the first session and working with the student, create a bespoke curriculum to help towards each student achieving their aspirational target.

Each lesson will have clear objectives with success criteria to help the students measure their own progress. There will be a initial task that reviews either previous topics we have covered, or random topics to strengthen retention. I will ensure each lesson is as interactive as possible and significant input from the students. There will be short tasks for students to complete to consolidate learning and the content delivery will be made as easy as possible to understand.

I have experience in teaching/tutoring GCSE Maths for OCR, EDEXCEL, AQA and iGCSE. I can also teach A Level Maths for OCR, OCR MEI, EDEXCEL and AQA.
