Maths Tutor for children and young people with SEND and SEMH

Advert description
I'm a well-rounded tutor with over a decade of experience in early years, primary and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

I have an honours undergraduate degree in Early Years and Special Education and am studying towards an MA in Character Education, too. I've been a teacher since 2014 and have been tutoring for almost as long, working with children who have SEND, are gifted, are homeschooled, or have English as their second language.

I'm extremely passionate about working with children and helping them reach their maximum potential because I truly believe that every child can flourish with the right approach. It’s an understatement to say I am saddened by the rigidity of the education system and by how many children get left behind. This reality fuels me on my mission to make a difference, one child at a time.

For many kids, it’s not only unnatural but extremely difficult to sit down for hours on end. My lessons are always packed with games, activities and projects that your child will love doing. Believe it or not, my students look forward to my lessons, and are always putting in requests for my games. As for worksheets, while I do sometimes use them in my lessons (when appropriate) I keep them to a minimum and always sandwich them between games.

My passion and area of expertise is working with what I like to call ‘non-traditional’ children. That’s children who don’t fit into the narrow frame of mainstream education (whether they do indeed go to school or are homeschooled). Some examples include: excluded from mainstream; behaviour that challenges; learning difficulties; Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (diagnosed or not); birth conditions such as Fetal Alcohol Syndrome; anxiety; medical illnesses.
