English lessons for Year 2 to Year 6 students

Before learning, I foster a safe environment by starting with an icebreaker game where students can feel comfortable and feel a sense of trust in me. By utilising my skills, such as patience and being friendly, I hope to create an environment where students can communicate their struggle points within the subject topics while also discussing what they like and enjoy. Hence, when creating questions related to the subject I am teaching, I can add related scenarios that students like to make the learning more interesting and easier for students to understand.

When giving out questions for the student to answer, I oversee what students are doing and identify which areas they do not understand, get confused on and fully understand, so I can plan and focus on key areas that students find difficult. At the same time, for students to fully understand and practise questions they are soon to attempt by themselves, I will go through a step-by-step guide on how to not only get the answer but also understand why and how we use certain techniques to reach the answer. Thus, deepening their understanding. Furthermore, by answering all questions that students ask while I maintain a positive and calm attitude, I can help students to stay motivated and not feel discouraged when they do not understand something. Lastly, it is also crucial that I empower students by pointing out what they are doing correctly and their strong points, as it will help them boost their confidence and feel comfortable taking risks in learning.
