I believe communicating and connecting is very important to teach someone anything. So my first goal would be to try my best to understand what the person would like to achieve or gain out of the lesson. I think by doing so we would also naturally develop a connection, which would make the whole process of learning easier and more enjoyable. I know how to balance adding fun to a lesson so it doesn't get boring while at the same time making sure that they're learning and understanding the subject.
