English tutor across all ages

I have a BA degree in English and Linguistics and an Honours degree in Linguistics. I tutored Language and Communication Skills for over a decade to students at tertiary level, many of them non-native speakers of English. As such, and with my formal qualification as a Linguist, I have a keen understanding of challenges that second-language speakers of English face.

I am also a children's book author, freelance photojournalist, editor, and proof-reader and am thus versatile, with a wide range of interests, and able to transfer my skills across disciplines.

Accustomed to working from home, I am self-motivated, highly disciplined and always give my full attention to whatever job I'm doing. At the same time though, I have excellent people skills and am an empathetic teacher who strives to meet the specific needs of learners of English.

My working environment at home is quiet and with little chance of interruptions. I have a strong and reliable high-speed internet connection and am available to teach on a one-on-one or, where students are at a similar level, small group basis. Lessons are tailored to students' needs and interests and can range from being purely conversational to a more formal and structured format.
