Highly experienced teacher of MFL and EFL, offering online or face-to-face courses for all

Having gained a degree in Modern and Medieval Languages at St. John's College Cambridge (focusing on German and French language, literature, history and thought, as well as linguistics), followed by a Secondary PGCE in German, French and EPS (Educational and Professional Studies), I began working at a sixth form college in Yorkshire, teaching German and French to A Level, as well as Spanish to GCSE. Throughout the 19 years I spent with this organisation, I taught up to A Level and University Entrance in German and French, as well as delivering GCSE courses and evening classes in the afore-mentioned languages, as well as offering GCSE English, AS Level European Studies, IELTS preparation and Study Skills. I was also a form tutor for most of my time there.

I was Head of German at an independent grammar school in Cambridgeshire for five years, where I also taught lower school French and acted as a sixth form tutor. Since moving to my current location, I have done several periods of supply teaching, as well as working away from home on numerous occasions for a language school, teaching EFL to young people with a range of abilities, as well as acting as Judge and Head Judge during the BEO (British English Olympics) held at Easter. I also worked for nearly five years for a local language school in Nottingham, providing morning and evening classes, largely for adults, in German, French, Spanish, EFL and, very occasionally, Italian.

Now, I operate as a self-employed private tutor in all my languages, for instance, recently preparing a young lady to sit the DELF French examination at A2, in which she scored 77% - a not inconsiderable achievement, given that she had only had one 60-minute lesson per week on Zoom in which to prepare. Most of my lessons are now taught online, though I am willing to offer face-to-face sessions if these are preferred, as long as the location is accessible using public transport.
