Simple Guide for Tutors: Writing Blog Posts That Help Your Content Stand Out

Know Who You’re Writing For

Before you start writing, think about your readers:

  • Who are they?
  • What do they want to know? For example, if you're writing for parents, they might want advice on how to help their kids with studies. If you're writing for students, they might be looking for study tips.
  • Tone: Friendly, helpful, and professional.
  • Audience: Parents, students, and anyone looking for educational help.

Using the Right Words (Keywords)

In every blog, you want to use the words that people are likely to search for when they need help with education. These are called keywords.

  • Primary Keyword: This is the main topic of your article. For example, if you’re writing about English tutoring, your primary keyword could be “GCSE English tutor.”
  • Secondary Keywords: These are related words. For example, “English language exam prep” or “online English tutor.”

Your goal is to include these words in your article naturally, so people can find your post when they search for these topics.

Structure Your Blog Post

Organise your post into clear sections. This helps readers follow along and makes it easier for search engines (like Google) to understand and rank your content.

  • Heading 1 – The Title: This is the main heading of your article. It should include the main keyword.
  • Heading 2 – Main Sections: Break your post into sections, each covering a different part of the topic.
  • Heading 3 – Subsections: If a section needs more details, break it down further with smaller headings.

Formatting Tips

  • Use short paragraphs (2-3 sentences each) so the content is easy to read.
  • Add bullet points or numbered lists to highlight key points. This makes it easier for readers to find information.

Content Guidelines

  • Original Content Only: All blog posts must be original. Copying from AI tools or other websites will result in rejection. Write in your own words, sharing your unique expertise.
  • External Links: Avoid external links unless they add value, such as referencing credible sources, quoting studies, or providing additional context. Use links from reliable websites, such as government sites, official studies, and respected sources. If we think a link is inappropriate, we will remove it.
  • No Personal Promotion: Don’t include personal advertisements, experiences, or promotional content. Focus solely on educational value.
  • Timely Revisions: You have 10 days to apply requested changes. If not, we will delete your post and give other tutors the opportunity to write about the topic.

Formatting Checklist:

  • Did you use Heading 1 for the title, Heading 2 for section headings, and Heading 3 for subheadings?
  • Are all required keywords included in the post?
  • Is the content easy to read (short paragraphs, bullet points)?
  • Have you avoided personal promotion?
  • Is your article clear, engaging, and free of mistakes?

Reasons your post may be rejected

  • Self-promotion
  • Bad grammar or spelling
  • Inappropriate or poor-quality content
  • AI-generated or plagiarised content
  • Off-topic or irrelevant content

Please note: We reserve the right to edit, adapt, or modify any submitted content to ensure it aligns with our website’s tone, structure, and SEO requirements.

Why write on our blog?

When students read your blog post, they will be able to contact you directly using the contact button. You can also write about yourself in the "About me" section in the top right of the miniblog tool in your personal area. This way you can introduce yourself to the students reading your blog and persuade them to contact you.

Recommended Topics:

If you write about a popular subject that students often search for, such as the ones recommended by our content specialist in our miniblog tool, students will be able to find your blog in Google when they search for that topic.

Plus, you’ll get 40 pointsworth £8 in credit—to spend on boosting your ad and standing out to more students!

  1. To choose a recommended topic, simply click on the one you’d like to write about on the blog page.
  2. You’ll be taken straight to our blog editor tool, where a ready-made template awaits, created by our content specialist. It includes pre-written headings, integrated tools like tables and images, and suggested keywords.
  3. All you need to do is fill in the content using your subject knowledge, and voilà, your article will be good to go!

Recommended Topic Assignment and Expiration:

  • Recommended topics are assigned to only one tutor at a time and have a limited duration.
  • Once a topic is selected, it will no longer be available to other tutors. To make the most of these topics, please publish your article within 30 days. If you don’t publish it within this period, the topic will become available again for other tutors.
  • If your article is rejected and requires changes, you will have 10 days to submit it again for review before it's deleted.

Content Quality Checklist

Before finalising your blog post, ask yourself these questions to ensure the content meets high standards:

  1. Does the content provide a substantial, complete, or comprehensive description of the topic?
  2. After reading your content, will someone leave feeling they've learned enough to achieve their goal?
  3. Will someone reading your content leave feeling like they've had a satisfying experience?
  4. Does your content leave readers feeling like they need to search again to get better information from other sources?

By answering "yes" to these questions, you can ensure your content is high-quality, valuable, and helpful for your readers. Please be aware that if your posts do not meet our standards, after the third violation, you will no longer be able to write for our blog as we wish to provide our users with the best quality content possible. Thank you!
