Formatting my class to adapt to the student's needs, I like to use a digital whiteboard (Jambord) as support so that the student can have a strong visual aid to follow the class. On Jamboard I can write down mind maps, summaries of important concepts, new vocabulary and translations, grammar rules etc, and I can insert pictures sent by the student if they want to work on a page or exercise from their textbook. I also like to integrate in the learning process extra exercises available on a variety of online platforms, which I screenshare with the student to guide them through the exercises. For the students who need to memorize new vocabulary I like to employ digital flashcards, useful to review concepts together and a great resource for the student to use for practice outside of class. When I'm teaching to younger students, I like to use online language games to keep them engaged and interested in the content, so I provide the relevant resources and assist them in completing the games though screensharing, and they achieve new Learning Objectives while havin gfun. Based on what each student needs to focus on, I provide assistance with a range of listening, speaking, writing, and reading comprehension exercises. To aid conversational fluency, I like to get to know the student's interests, so we can have stimulating conversations in their target language which are relevant to their interest. This way learning how to speak Italian and handle a conversation can be much less boring and much more engaging!
