Private tutoring for history and Oxbridge interview technique

Advert description
My name is Frodi Jones, and I am an experienced private tutor, having worked for around four years with students at both GCSE and A-level. Although my academic background is in history, I have tutored students in a range of different subjects, including maths, science, English, and economics. I have also supported students with preparation for university entrance exams and interviews.

I offer tutoring tailored to the individual needs of my students, and to the particular set of subjects that they are taking. By offering wide ranging support across the curriculum, I seek to understand each students’ strengths and weaknesses. I find this approach particularly beneficial when working with students who lack self-confidence, as it offers greater opportunities to build understanding between tutor and tutee; a vital factor in achieving affective learning.

The subjects that I have greatest experience teaching are:

• GCSE: history, English, maths, and science.
• A level: history, maths, and physics.

Finally, I offer services helping prepare students for Oxbridge interviews, particularly those applying for history. Having attended Cambridge since undergraduate, I am very familiar with the anxiety that interviews can bring and, in my experience, this anxiety can only be overcome with practice. By walking students through mock interviews, I offer tips and tricks for engaging with difficult questions and impressing your interviewers.

About me

I am a student at King’s College Cambridge, studying for a PhD in medieval history. I previously read history at undergraduate level, achieving a double starred first, before specialising in medieval history at master’s level, where I received a distinction. At sixth form I studied double maths, physics, and chemistry, and, before transitioning to history, I started a degree in natural sciences.
